We anticipate that we will have lower water pressure on a portion of the main for at least the next half hour while a break on a customer’s direct connect service line is evaluated and repaired.
The following customers will be affected:

Colorow customers

Buffalo Bill

Lookout Mt Crest

It is possible, that after evaluation of the break, the above customers may be without water for an hour or two, while the repair is completed.

Thank you for your patience and we apologize for the inconvenience.

Water Outage Update – 7/7/2020

Good afternoon everyone,

During the flushing this morning, the PRVs were causing problems, apparently due to debris being flushed down the line, which can get deposited in the valves and cause them to behave improperly, which resulted in loss of water for some customers.

Tomorrow we will be performing another flush while the PRV technician does some adjustments, to ensure that we get complete flow through the valves.  The water may be discolored and have some bubbling, spitting and pressure issues for a short while.

We apologize for the inconvenience.  The loss of water service during the flush, which was completed for today a few hours ago, was not planned, we were troubleshooting as quickly as possible when we got reports of problems, and we believe that we got the problem resolved.

However, a break just occurred on the main line, which is causing the current water loss and pressure issues being experienced by many customers.  It is being already being addressed and we hope to have normal service restored as quickly as possible.

Again, we apologize for the inconvenience.  We will update you as we have better information.

LMWD will be performing a scheduled and thorough flushing of the mainline pipes beginning on Monday July 6, 2020 and continuing through Friday July 17th. During this time you may experience bouts of discolored water. LMWD recommends that you run your water until it clears after the flushing to rid any sediment that maybe stirred up during the flush.

ORC is LMWD’s operator and will be performing the flush.  They tell us they are aware of some aesthetically unpleasant conditions that have been present, scattered throughout the district during the previous week. The above approach is intended to remedy this concern. LMWD appreciates your patience as we work through this maintenance plan to improve our utility.

It has been brought to the District’s attention that a few households have been experiencing yellow, bad-tasting water over the past few days.  We are experiencing some elevated levels of manganese in the treated water and are currently tracking down the cause and extent, and are preparing a plan to remedy this situation as quickly as possible.  Please keep in mind that manganese has no adverse health effects, but is aesthetically unpleasant.  We apologize for any inconvenience that this causes and we will provide updates as we learn more.

UPDATE – High Water Pressure – 6/16/2020

Hello Everyone:

LMWD has had issues with its own Pressure Reducing Valves on the water system.  The District is aware of ongoing water pressure issues and is coordinating with the Operator and Engineer to address them.

Please continue to update the District office as to any new issues in the meantime.  We apologize for these problems and we are pushing to get repairs done.  As updated and reliable information becomes available, it will be posted on our website as well as Nextdoor.

Please note that it is a requirement for all taps on the system to have a Pressure Reducing Valve installed to protect your home in case of spikes in water pressure.  It’s part of the code requirements and should have been installed when your home was built.  You will notice many of your neighbors on the system are not having any issues.  If your Pressure Reducing Valve is installed and working properly, it reduces the water pressure inside your homes water lines and water heater.  If you are experiencing leaks caused by high water pressure, please check with your plumber to ensure that:

1) you have a Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) installed,

2) the PRV is sufficient for the application and hasn’t failed,

3) the PRV is set correctly.

If the Pressure Relief Valve on your water heater is leaking, it may simply be doing what it is designed to do.  It doesn’t necessarily mean that your water heater is faulty.

Again, we apologize for the high water pressure issues and we are working to get them addressed.
